Hello,

I started playing this game today, and roamed space for a bit, doing missions and exploring.

I was ready to head back to my base after one of those missions, when I realized - on the global map - a station (mining operation), which I assumed was hostile because of the red color and hostile faction name on it. So I decided to destroy said station, for the good of all.

Anyway, I came to an halt pretty close to it - without anyone showing up or any defence mechanism shooting at me - and started shooting. After a while the station reached 1% left of health, and then 0%, and 1%, and 0%, and 1%, etc, etc.

So my question here is quite simple; Is this an intented game mechanic ? Is there something I missed that would allow me to destroy a station ?

For further reference, two 'defence fleet', or what I guess it was the game send as a defence fleet, showed up : One when I first attacked and another when I raided the station (I thought I could capture it).

I saw people having issue with stations or ships being invulnerable while doing missions, but as I was not on a mission, I don't know if it could be related in any way.

Thanks to anyone that might have a clue (or more experience).

Regards.

During the campaign you can capture stations only after some missions, during free roam, you can capture stations from the beginning by destroying the defeating the defence fleet.
You must be playing the campaign.
A defence fleet is stationed near the station, they will attack you.
Roaming defence fleet may join the defence fleet and support them.
Finally any action on a station you don't own calls a defending fleet.
As a consequence you may be attacked by three fleets at the same time if you are not careful.
