I decided it would be wise to write all relevant information here cause in the last weeks I answered so many same questions over and over again on Steam that my fingers are bleeding and same goes for many other community members along with devs. So here is your FAQ about Starpoint Gemini 2. Does it matter that I didn't play the first Starpoint Gemini?

No, it doesn't matter, and it won't be a confusing experience if you haven't but if you're interested in the story and Gemini lore, please register on starpointgemini.com/forum/index.php and you will find a short, summarized story from the first game along with other information about Gemini star system.

Can I command a fleet in Starpoint Gemini 2?

Yes and no. You are always in command of your own ship, but you can hire up to three mercenaries with their ships who will aid you in your missions. Beware though, if you're not paying them regulary or even if someone plays them more, they could turn on you in a second.

What about multiplayer?

No, Starpoint Gemini 2 is a single player game as stated on Steam Store page. It's far too early to say if there will be any kind of co-op or multiplayer in the future.

Does this game supports Oculus Rift SDK2?

It does, but it's still being tweaked so it's not confirmed it will work perfectly on release date. The guys got new SDK2 too late to implement it properly till the release, but that update will come pretty soon.

Will there be further updates and content updates after the release?

Yes. Developers are working 24/7 to finish the game and promised they will continue to develop new content for the game, uncluding a full expansion. Although the expansion depends on how good the game will sell, if you ask me.

Starpoint Gemini 2 is not an expensive game. How much will DLCs (content patches) cost?

So far, the developers stated they will do it free of charge. I chose to believe them, judging on what they brought us so far.

Is there any information on what will DLCs or expansion bring to the game?

So far, developers have long wishlist made by community. There are many ideas ranging from having your own station to having the option to conquer parts of the Gemini system. At this point, it's too early to confirm anything about that though, cause some things will change for sure, judging by dev's interaction with the community.

Is this game similar to X: Rebirth, EvE Online, Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen?

Similar as in space genre. But all of those games are different. In X, you are building an empire. In Elite, you basically have frantic space shooter, EvE Online is much slower then SPG and it's an MMO, and Star Citizen is MMO that is far from being released to compare it. Many players so far called Starpoint Gemini 2 a spiritual successor to Freelancer.

Starpoint Gemini 2 is boasting with modding capabilities?

Yes, you can mod everything you like and there are already some memorable mods available in Steam Workshop. Currently only way to use them is to contact the modder itself and ask him to send it to you via mail / dropbox or something like that.

I like the ambiental soundtracks in space games. What is the SPG2 music like?

Just as in many other space games, SPG2 soundtrack is ambiental and pleasant to listen to while you cruise around the galaxy.

My heavy weapons are not shooting at the enemy?!

If you have 4 heavy missile launchers, one on each side of the ship, let's call it front, right, rear and left, you have to make a full 360 degrees turn and spam X to fire from all of them.
If enemy is behind you and you press X, you will fire rear missile, if you turn your left side to him, you will fire from your left heavy launchers and so on...
Unlike other weapons that have pretty nice fire angle (although if your enemy is at your right side, you can't shoot at him with your left cannon), heavy launchers are immobile so they don't turn, you have to. :)
