I`m trying to play SPG2 witha gamepad - PS3 DS3 through a wrapper - but I can not choose the Origins DLC. So: if I first choose gamepad or gamepad+keyboard control options then after proceeding to next choice - DLC/no DLC - I`m only allowed to pick "no DLC" option (everything freezes and game only responds to me pressing "A")

After that the gamepad works fine...

I tried to pick a non-gamepad control option first, then choose Origins DLC - that works no prob - and then save game, restart game, choose gamepad, choose no-DLC and try to load my DLC save - but it`s not listed in saves dir. So, no dice.

Is this a bug or is there a reason to it?

Probably a bug. :(

Please send us your log.txt and game save from game folder to oliver@starpointgemini.com so we can look into it. Please copy paste description from this thread to e-mail.

We'll see what's happening and I'll also forward this directly to our programmer if he'll have an idea what might be hapenning...

Sorry for the inconvenience.
Appreciate the instant reply, that`s impressive ;)

Will email you the details, hope you guys can work something out. I know it`s supposed to be a KBM game but I`m a bit of a gamepad fanatic and try to use it whenever possible, and it works rather well in SPG2.

Origins is a separate game which means if you load SPG2 you won't see Origins save games and vice versa. I missed that in your original post.

As for gamepads, we tried to implement as many of them and as best as we could, but sometimes you will need extra button on a keyboard for some command. Not the basic ones, though. :)
Sorry, but it now sounds a bit as if you misunderstood my post.

I don`t have any issues with how gamepad works in SPG2 main game - the problem is that I can`t use it (at all) in Origins DLC. When I get to choose DLC or no-DLC - after first choosing gamepad as a control - I`m only allowed to pick no-DLC version. The Origins DLC is only available If i choose KBM options first.

If you guys say that gamepad can`t be used in Origins for some reason - or that you can use it, meaning something`s wrong on my end - then fine, but it just seems like a bug at the moment.

You're right, I did misunderstood, I will relay this to our controller guru so he can check that out.
Thanks for clarifying it.
Hi!

I Have the same issue, however I use a xbox one controller.
Thanks for reporting it. We have several XB1 controllers in the office, it should work, but we'll check it out again.
It seems this issue is still not fixed in 1.93!

If i choose either "Joystick / Gamepad (and keyboard)" or "Joystick / Gamepad" in "CHOOSE CONTROL SCHEME" menu i loose any input options in "Please select DLC setup" menu except button A (and i'm forced to play the game without any DLC). This issue affects both "XBOX 360 Wireless" and "XBOX ONE Elite Wireless" controllers.

This situation is making me to consider utilising refund option as this is a major deal breaker for me.

Can you please, try this, if you have Xbox One controller?

With all due respect...

Suggestion you are referring me to does not apply here.

1.) I encountered this problem when using both "Xbox 360 Wireless" and "Xbox Elite Wireless" controllers (on "Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit" and "Windows 10 Pro 64-bit").

2.) Controllers work without any problems in-game the only place they are not working is the "Please select DLC setup" menu (If i choose either "Joystick / Gamepad (and keyboard)" or "Joystick / Gamepad" in "CHOOSE CONTROL SCHEME" menu).

3.) Also drivers you are linking to are outdated (at least on Windows 10) and don't apply to "Xbox Elite Wireless" controller.

Drivers on linked site...
"Product version 6.2.11059.0", Date modified 27.05.2014".
Hardware ID that linked drivers apply to is "USB\VID_045E&PID_02D1" = "Microsoft Xbox One Controller".
File name "XB1USB.SYS".

Drivers with Windows 10 (Version 1607 a.k.a "Anniversary Update") wireless...
"Product version 10.0.14393.0", Date modified 16.07.2016".
Hardware ID "USB\VID_045E&PID_02E3" = "Xbox Elite Wireless Controller".
File name "XINPUTHID.SYS".

(Another small observation, drivers that came with "Anniversary Update" on "Windows 10" fixed all in-game problems with Elite controller, constant firing and other anomalies)

This issue should be investigated further and fixed because as it is now with clean "Starpoint Gemini 2" GOG installation the "Starpoint Gemini 2: Origins" DLC is not playable (and i'm definitely not buying any more DLC's if i can't play them just to test this issue further at my expense) with either "Xbox 360 Wireless" or "Xbox Elite Wireless" controllers (on "Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit" and "Windows 10 Pro 64-bit").

P.S. I confirmed that linked drivers are indeed latest drivers for "Xbox One Controller" on Windows 7,8,8.1.
+ http://catalog.update.microsoft.com (Xbox One Controller)
But they don't apply to "Xbox Elite Controller".
+ http://catalog.update.microsoft.com (Xbox Elite Controller)
(both links must be opened using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later.)
Microsoft also provides instructions how to download and install those drivers here.
It is considered bad practice to provide links for drivers trough 3rd party sites or software if drivers are obtainable through 1st party (a.k.a. manufacturer).

Greetings Avatar :)

So LGM, over a Year has passed and nothing has changed on this Problem with the (Original) 360 Controller ( wired / wireless on this Game.
Is it so hard to bring out a fix for this Problem ?
I have the Steam Version, BUT the Bug is on both Versions the same ( attached Photo).
Ingame the Controller works smooth and fast, but in the second Menu ( where the Question comes up to open Game with or without DLC ) is no control with the Controller available, Keyboard also. Sorry that i would to play WITH DLC.

I think the Game is long enough out, to get rid off this problem - Please do so

Computer is running on Win 10 64 bit 16 Gig Ram
Graphiccard is Nvidia ROG 760 Platinum 4 GB - in all other Games the Controller works fine

Hope this changes soon !
Greetings Kristian

I seem to be having the same issue, 2019, when selecting to use a gamepad the Starpoint Gemini 2 just freezes up - I scrolled around here and don't see any obvious solutions.

It might be a good workaround if there was an option to toggle gamepad vs keyboard controls for an in-game settings menu, which I don't see either.
