I've tried to download Starpoint Gemini 2 twice already and both times I've received an error in the GOG Downloader that read: "Checksum error on chunk 0, please contact support."

Does anyone know what this means and how to resolve it? I just bought the game today and would like to play it, but if it won't download, I'd like to get a refund. Hopefully it won't come to that, but I don't want to keep a game I can't play through no fault of my own.

There's nothing wrong with my version of the GOG Downloader either. I've recently downloaded a bunch of games (and have done so without problem in the past as well). I just downloaded Grim Fandango Remastered, which you'll see in the screenshot I'm including of the error.

So every other game I've tried downloading from GOG has worked fine, so that suggests there's a problem with the files uploaded on the website itself.

Before anyone asks, I went to the support page and tried the solution suggested on GOG.com, but it didn't make a difference, the same error appeared.

I will look into it, please stand by.

First thing that comes to my mind is that antivirus is deleting something due to fake virus confusion.
In the meantime, please contact GoG support too, so they can see if there is something on their side.

I can just give you technical support with our game, not with GoG download manager. :-/

Sorry for the inconvinience. :(

Update:

Ok, another user had the same error:

Try to add SPG2 installer to white list on your antivirus software, that usually does the trick. If not, try to disable antivirus software until download and installation finishes. After that enable it, and if asked, exclude spg2.exe from the scan. That solved my problem on Steam version.

Thanks for the reply, and I'll do that with Avast, but the problem isn't running the game's EXE (at least not yet anyway).

My problem is that I am unable to download the game itself. Maybe I can get Avast to ignore the GOG Downloader.

Regardless, I've sent all the required information and asked for help from GOG's support team. Hopefully they'll be able to do something. :)
I've also been running into this issue. Turns out it's not the Installer that's "corrupted" but the ".bin" file. I tried downloading it WITHOUT the downloader, that's how I found out that the ".bin" is corrupted somehow. I sent in a support ticket as-well, but that was either yesterday or the day before. Hopefully this does get fixed soon. When I seen that a few people were saying "It's the Spiritual Successor to Freelancer" I HAD to have this game. Freelancer was my JAM back in the day. XD Me and my family would all host a server and play together, I know this is only single player, but it doesn't stop me from wanting to play! T_T

EDIT:

Unfortunately whitelisting everything I could didn't really seem to work. T_T It seems to be a straight up and down problem with the download it-self for me. WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It seems DISABLING my Antivirus is working though. (I use Avast, I just told it to shut the shields down for an hour. Will report back when or IF the download completes.)

EDIT 2:

ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!!! The game FULLY downloaded while my Avast Shields were down Game is installing right now. (I re-enabled the shields to see if they would conflict with the install as-well.)

A few Minutes Later...

Game fully installed with the shields back up. Just a download issue. So for Avast users here's what you do when you are having this problem, go down to the bottom right of your task bar and show your hidden icons. Right click on the Avast Antivirus one go to Shields Control, and tick however long you think you'll need for the download. Once the download is done you can go back to Shields Control and Manually turn them all back on. :D Worked for me! Have fun!

Goldor4ever, you solved the issue! Thanks! :D

Yeah, despite whitelisting the GOG Downloader, somehow Avast still saw something wrong -- not sure just what it thought -- with the file. Once I disabled all the shields, the file downloaded properly and installed.

I'd also like to add that I tried downloading it both directly from the site and using the GOG Downloader. Both ways worked!

So for whatever reason, Avast has a problem with this one game. No other title I've ever downloaded off GOG (and I've bought way too many games here) has had this issue. Regardless, if you're using Avast, disable the shields before downloading Starpoint Gemini 2.
Glad I was able to help. :D
