ajmazumdar: Seriously, I have no idea how to interpret gog's instructions on how to find the security code for Starflight 1. Can anyone explain?
Short version:
When you are ready to launch, hit the Windows button or Alt-Enter so that you can access windows.
Find the SF code generator and enter the names of the planet, artifact, and race as requested. The code generator will return a number up to 5 digits.
Go back to your starflight game and enter that 5-digit number. It will ask you if you are sure and hit the right arrow key for yes.
[IIRC} If you have it wrong, it will ask you if you are sure - You better double-check.
If, in fact you do have it wrong, the cops will pull you over and you will have to go through the same procedure to generate a code.
--------------
Long version: I can explain it better when I get home.
In the old days, the game came in a box - and in the box was a code wheel. Before you launch from Starport, they asked for a code for you to type in. They give you:
- The name of a planet
- The name of an artifact
- The name of a race
In the old days, you would line up the name of the planet with the name of the artifact on the code wheel. The names of the races were open boxes displaying a code number up to 5 digits. You look up the code number corresponding to the name of the race you were given and give that number in reply.
The gog version does not come with a code wheel. Instead there is another program that comes with the gog package where you enter the names of the planet, artifact, and race and it will return the number you need to respond with.
