This might be a dumb question, but how do you save your games and then restore them in the game?

I haven't played this for something like 25 years, but from what I remember the game actually changes the binary files on the disk (like STARA, STARB) as you play. The original floppies said "Copy this disk! Do not play on it!"

Oh, and I think it also auto-saved every time you docked with the main star base.

An Extension to this question...SF-2 is not a problem, (Save Auto Save as a game Number is great), But SF-1 has some issues, Like when a player Dies,,,,And the game has to be re-started from beginning. When that happens 8 or 9 times, it gets Long and Tedious.

Is there any way to save a backup of the SF-1 Auto Save so it could be re-loaded to be played?
