Unkalibriert: As far as I know, in Steam, the devs put up the patches themselves, which doesn't work for gog. So Valve doesn't help in that regard, it's the closed system named Steam. And I absolutely don't want THAT.
On Steam, Devs have direct access to file servers allowing them to upload, modify, verify and push out content as soon as it's ready. I've been expecting GOG to adobt same system since Galaxy came out (was rather surprised to find out they did not implement it before introducing in-dev games). I'm sure separating dev accounts from user accounts is first step towards this. It's matter of implementing systems and tools to make it possible and making it reliable, secure (you don't want 3rd party to access something they should not, even by accident) and easy to use to allow devs/publisher to use it.
While users who don't use Galaxy won't see direct benefit from it (unless they also implement system that can autobuild the direct download files based on dev uploads), it should remove some of the delays caused by current implementation (so we won't have to wait weeks or months for dev to bother upload patch on GOG).
