The trouble is that you don't have unlimited copies of everything. It's pretty easy to farm 40 Cauliflower and give two of them to Maru every week. Gold bars, though... maybe in Year 2, but forget about it otherwise. A lot of good gifts is much more practical than a few of the best ones. You might get a huge boost on a birthday or something, but in general, you need a lot more info if you want to look up what gifts are easiest with what you're planning to farm.
