My old save that I never play anymore (since replaced with a new save that I'm much further in) won't delete.

I deleted it three times now, and it goes away but keeps coming back next time I load the game.

You can go to the saves folder and delete it manually, e.g. $HOME/.config/StardewValley/Saves on Linux.
