Not a topic for beginners but rather for people already in their second year (or at the end of the first one). So, time to share some useful tips which makes the game more "smoother" without copy/pasting the wiki. Newbies aren't allowed here, this is strictly for veterans rednecks guys & gals ^o^

- Get a fucking horse.... No excuses, just get it. Unlike other animals, it doesn't consume resources (except for building the stable). You travel much faster thus giving you more time and possibilities to quickly gather foraging fruits on the way.

- Need some hardwood? The "enchanted" forest (north-west of wizard's tower) always has 4 tree slumps/logs (don't know the english name) which each gives 2 hardwood and they respawn daily.

- How the fuck do you make refined quartz in order to craft an army of quality sprinklers and finally trash your watering can? Just throw a quartz in a furnace (like converting ore to bar). I luckily got this tip while watching TV, otherwise, I would have stayed totally clueless.....

- You feel like you won't be able to complete all the community bundle in short time frame or don't wanna deal with fishing? I you remember the beginning, Joja Market has an option to buy the community center thus instead of gathering specific items, you just have to pay money to unlock the new areas. Naturally, the most frugal way is to complete the easiest set of bundles you can (boiler room, vault and crafts room) and then switch to the Joja center

It's probably a good idea to keep in mind that Jojamart kinda plays the role of the villain in the storyline though so by buying a membership with them you've technically lost. I'm only part way through spring of year 2 myself so I don't know how this affects the end of the story but I'd be quite surprised if it didn't give you a bad end.

You're probably aware of this OP, but you can also get refined quartz from throwing broken CDs & broken glasses into a Recycler. Being trash items it's easy to fish up tons of them on "bad luck" days.

I don't like fishing so I don't have the recipe for the recycler ;)

Yesterday I noticed that you can find tons of winter roots and snow yams by digging in the winter - even in the desert. Went an fully tilled the whole thing and ended up with 30+ of each. xD

On another note; getting the iridium sprinklers is much easier when you simply buy them - so there's no need for gathering the iridium in the first place. The travelling cart can sell them (got some for 3k and 5k). Krobus sells them as well - always for 10k.

Also, once you've got the Gemifier (not its real name, but I forget what it's called), you can throw a quartz into it. It will keep replicating quartz without adding another one at least 2 per day (maybe faster, I always have one waiting when waking up and another ready when returning home at night). You should never need a trip to the mine or quarry for quartz. If you want to switch to a different mineral, just toss it in instead.

Iridium is far better spent on upgrading your tools since it's so absurdly rare. I'm a week into spring of year two and still haven't gathered enough iridium for even the 5 bars required to upgrade a single tool. I've got 3 sprinklers from Krobus and the traveling cart though in a matter of only about a month. There really needs to be a more reliable way to get iridium. It's all luck based and it's rare in the places it does appear too.

It's called the "Crystalarium", I got it this morning (by completing the vault bundle). Needless to say that it already produces infinite quartz since then. I hope to get the recipe soon so I can make a few more Crystalarium to make my own production of diamonds :o)

You can also get a recycler (just one, though) by completing a bundle. Unfortunately, it requires a fish, but you can luck out and get it by kicking cans (or fish it out, it's common=physically easy to catch and available all year round). On a related note, it's possible to dig in the mine for fossils.

As an endgame hint, from 1.05 patch notes: This makes acquiring Iridium Ore much less of an gamble. This doesn't mean that it became easy, though.
