Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/djG0bvo.png - the ones in the red circle around my character (both the smaller and bigger ones), I tried an axe, scythe, hoe, nothing seems to be able to remove them. (I think one of them dropped some ferns after a few scythe hits, but that was all I achieved).

How can I remove them, if it's at all possible? (I'm planning to build a chicken coop over there, next to the silo, once I have the money for it).

Edit: I also seem to have another problem, or a question at least: do bees continue to produce honey from the same flowers? I've put down a bee nest, and planted 8 poppys (which I left there once they matured, without picking them up) - I got a jar of honey about twice I think, and it seems like they are doing nothing since.

If they don't, should I plant new flowers about every two jars or so, move the nest (is it possible) next to some other flowers (wild ones maybe?) or do what?

On the forest map, you can clear those bushes once you upgrade your axe. I cleared mine with steel, but it might only take copper. On the other maps I'm not sure it's possible to clear the bushes; I haven't tried. They do produce berries, though, and that grassy area also spawns various foraging items like mushrooms or spice berries, so clearing them and/or building there will reduce the amount of stuff you can find wild on your farm.

Bee boxes make honey every 5ish days, counting from the moment you harvest them. I've never encountered anything that made them take longer than that, other than season changes. I've currently got 20 boxes serviced by a single flower and they're producing like clockwork.
Thanks for the info, yeah, haven't upgraded my tools yet, might go about it for the axe at least.
(I'd upgrade the watering can, but I'm not giving it away for two days... well, not before winter)

As for cutting things down removing berries and other forageables, I mostly picked the forest farm for the easy access to wood (during my first attempt at playing the game, only the standard one was available, and I was like "300 wood for building a coop, gathering one at a time? Pass, I quit." and stopped playing (I didn't know about cutting down the trees at the time, and thought I'd have to find and whack 300 of those branches you can find on the ground even on the original, first farm).
So, it shouldn't actually be a problem.

And yeah, bees work just fine, I guess I just got a tad impatient (and I guess got too many flowers then, might go about building more nests, but maybe next year or during winter when there'll be not much else to do - it's Fall for me now, and I'm usually a tad too busy to visit a mine much for ores for it etc., on most days anyway).

BTW, I'm thinking about building a second silo, so that I can collect enough hay to last me through winter (well, right now i only have one chicken, but thinking long term). Should I do that, or will a single one do, once I'll have both a barn and coop (and maybe more than one of each), upgraded to have more animals etc. ?

Upgrading your water can is a huge deal and saves you a TREMENDOUS amount of time, and if you watch the weather forecast you can do it without losing a day of crop watering. When the forecast says it's going to rain tomorrow, you can water all your crops, then drop off the can before the blacksmith closes at 4, and the rain will take care of your crops the one day you're without the can. Then, on the next day, you can pick up your can in the morning and then water everything in the afternoon.

My primary source of wood is actually the forested area south of the farm. You can chop down all of the trees in the game except for the ones in the town itself, and the ones off your farm grow back MUCH faster than the ones on your farm do. Once you clear all the various rubbish around your farm the grass tends to take over, which can make trees grow slower unless you section off a tree-only area. This is less necessary on the original farm map because it's got twice as much land area (or more) than the others.

If you right-click the silo it'll tell you how much grain it currently has. Just multiply your current number of animals by 28 to see if you've got enough silos to last the winter. A fully upgraded barn plus fully upgraded coop takes 3 silos, but I usually make a fourth just in case. You can also store excess hay in a chest somewhere by repeatedly clicking the hopper to empty hay out of it when it gets full. You can then add that hay back in later when you get low in the winter. (Sadly, you can't do this in the deluxe buildings because the feeding system is automated.)
Right, didn't think about that (way to upgrade the can).

I don't want to start from scratch again, but will keep the stuff about trees etc. in mind for possible future playthroughs.

Thanks. :)

BTW, if using the non-forest farm, is it possible to sow (non fruit) trees on it? I'm thinking Maple/Oak/what else is there for tappers.

Although come to think of it, forest farm means extra hardwood, nothing to complain about.

Yes, you can plant the pine cones, acorns, and maple seeds to grow non-fruit trees on your farm.
I got another problem now: (keeping it as spoiler free as I can) one of the villagers wants to meet in Secret Woods (today I think), but I still only have a copper axe, and so can at most get there in four or so days (if I spend money on metals to upgrade it, I might have copper, but not iron). Will the event still happen then, or am I screwed?

Edit: some googling and testing it myself answered the question, the event happened just fine a few days later, once I had the steel axe.
