I just bought Stardew Valley. Downloaded from GoG with only a few Disk Access Denied messages. (Not sure if it's my disk or their which is denying access.) Not an uncommon problem.

Successfully download and got it in my Library on GoG Galaxy. The PLAY button is green. When I click it, it goes grey, and then after a bit (2 minutes maybe) it goes green. The My Activity counter says I've played for 12 minutes now without ever seeing the game.

I did look to to see it there is an error file, but not sure where it would be.

This information might help.

Wiindows 7, all up to date.
Stardew Valley.exe is version 11/0/5900.10016
Nvidia graphics card about 1 year old.
The game is installed on Drive E:/My Games/GOG Games/Stardew Valley

This is the first game which I've got from GOG which has failed to run. I have one which is incompatible with GOG Galaxy though.

Help finding the error file, if any would be appreciated.

the error log-files are located in

AppData -> Roaming -> StardewValley -> ErrorLogs

"beware" appdata is a hidden folder

to quickly access the appdata folder just type %appdata% (yeah with the % symols) into the windows search that appears at the bottom when u click the start button in win 7
Thanks meonfire

I'll look there.

I actually found a completely different solution to playing, and am enjoying the game.
I have two computers. This one, with more mem, quad core would be my best.

But I put stardew on my other dual core which I made the mistake of putting Windows 10 on. Don't have GOG Galaxy, so down loaded game through browser. Did the install with just the game. So far, I've had no problems with crashes. Game doesn't support alt-Tab to switch between programs {ctrl-alt-del to get into Task Manager works, and then I can get access to the other programs running on that comp. Not all the programs list in Task Manager, but that's Microsoft. I make sure Stardew is in a Paused condition when doing that.}

Unfortunately, that doesn't explain what is happening on this computer, and why the game appears ready to run, but won't. The version of Stardew on the Window 10 comp appears to be the same as the one on this comp.

I notice the version information didn't print above correctly. 1.0.5900.10016 for both (I think). No not today. I just looked at Stardew which GOG Galaxy is managing and it's version 1.0.5903.9561 right now. Maybe got updated. I'll have to try it again.

Hello,

I think I might solve your problem, my girlfriend had the same on her windows 8.1 laptop. Try to install the XNA 4.0 framework given in the install folder, or download it directly on microsoft site if you don't have it. Then tell me if that change something =)

The MVP we deserve (I hope we do at least)

[edit]
Little background; formatted my PC, installed Windows again, first thing I did was install Galaxy and Stardew Valley. Put the save file back and... crashed on launch.
Verified through Galaxy client.
Uninstalled, reinstalled.
But this fixed it, I wasn't prompted to install XNA framework though.. Even though the installer is in the game folders..

+1, up voted, all that. This fixed me as well. Thanks!
Worked for me as well, thanks! :)
Thanks. GOG galaxy has been failing to install any and all redist/dependencies for a few months now, next time a game is broken I'll have to remember to look in its redist folder
You're all geniuses. I'm glad I checked the forums before submitting a ticket to support. XNA install immediately solved the issue for me as well.
Alpha Centauri opens then closes, even with the XNA
