Is there a way to download the Compatability version for use in Windows XP without using GOG Galaxy?

I don't think it's possible. You should try and contact GOG support and see if they could send you something like a link to download that version or let them know that they could add the offline installer as a bonus goodie.

Maybe it runs with a 32bit version?
There is a 32bit version in the library.
