Hi, I've searched far and wide for a solution to my problem and I'm beginning to feel hopeless.
EDIT: Apparently it was my antivirus. I turned it off and the stuttering stopped. I turned it back on and still no stuttering. For anyone else having a similar issue, I suggest adding the game's folders to your antivirus exceptions so it won't scan those locations (I did it for the main game folder as well as both of the folders in AppData)
Problem: the game skips some frames every second or two, always at the same pace. It happens all the time no matter what I do, including game menu (it's barely visible but I can see it i.e. when the clouds move while loading a save). I've tried all the solutions I could find online so far:
- updated Nvidia driver
- changed between fullscreen, windowed and different resolutions
- tried disabling and enabling stuff in Nvidia control panel, including vsync, triple buffering etc (tried all combinations I could think of)
- downloaded that _CommonRedist folder from reddit and installed the two things in it (already had .net tho)
- tried running with the integrated graphics card
- tried older version of the game
aaaand still nothing. It seems more like a CPU problem to me rather than GPU too but I have no idea what could be done about that. Any ideas what else I could do to fix this? It's very annoying... like, EXTREMELY annoying.
My specs:
Asus laptop, R556L
intel i5 5200U 2,2 GHz (4 CPUs)
Nvidia Geforce 940M
8 GB RAM
Windows 10
I recall playing on this machine before for hours with no problems at all. It was probably a year ago and before I upgraded to Windows 10 (from Win 8).
