Hi there. Since I'm on holiday I figured I give this game a spin on my laptop. It didn't go so well.

The Laptop has 4 GB of memory, the game allegedly requires 3 GB, the system requires about 200 MB, so that should work out.

When trying to start the game the Laptop basically just hung after a bit. I figured out that I hadn't set up swap space, so I added 4GB of swap.

Starting the game and watching the memory usage revealed that the game gobbled up memory like nobody's business, all of the actual memory and after swap had reached 3 GB and continued to grow I killed it.

So yeah, a more realistic memory requirement would be somewhere beyond 7 GB. Whether that is justified or not I leave for you to decide. The 3 GB from the system requirements are clearly wrong.

I start to think that this is a problem with unity, at least on Linux, or with developers using Unity as this is not the only Unity game I encountered where memory usage is through the roof.
That sounds like memory leak. I have 8 GB laptop and it never used that much.
This happens at startup, all I get is a black screen and the custom mouse pointer. That wouldn't make it a traditional memory leak.

One thought I had is that the onboard GPU also uses regular memory, so that may increase the usage somewhat.

But I tried it just now on my desktop with 16 GB of RAM. It took a couple minutes to load up and used about 60% of memory, so roughly 9.5 GB, see attached screenshot.

It seems to be mainly a first launch issue.
I just fired it up again, startup was much faster (<30s) and it uses "only" 37% of memory, so roughly 6 GB.
I'm happy to report that with the current version (1.1.3.1) the memory usage is much improved.
The game requires now only 6.6 % or about 1 GB at the title screen and startup feels faster as well (didn't measure).

I now also played the game for quite a few hours and have encountered some bugs, but I don't know whether the gog forum is the best place to report them.
