Is there any way to disable the incredibly distracting (and annoying) in-game FPS etc. display at the top right of the screen?

Edit: I found this entry in default.cfg inside the game folder:

gr_showfps "TRUE"

Trouble is, if I change it to gr_showfps "FALSE", it gets set back to TRUE as soon as I start the game again! The problem remains.

[Rhetorical question: Who's dumb idea was this anyway!?]

I don't remember the FPS counter to be active at default.
Is the default.cfg file write protected or in the %:\Program files%\ folder?

No, it's neither. It's installed to C:\Games\GOG.com\Star Wolves\ and I would not have been able to alter it if it was write protected. The file is fully editable, but as I said, even if I change it the game automatically resets it as soon as it's launched (the FPS displays immediately).

[EDIT]
Ok, I found the problem. The default.cfg is not the defining configuration. You have to edit the .cfg file inside your profiles folder.

..\Star Wolves\Profiles\<PROFILE NAME>\<PROFILE NAME>.cfg

Problem solved!
