I just bought X-Wing: Special Edition. I'm a Linux User. There seem to be two installers, for the 1993 game and for the CD version (and *not* for the 1998 edition). I installed both; however, 'Settings' do not allow me to edit any settings (just 'install from floppies, copy from CD eitc) and the games themselves tell me to 'move my joystick' after they start. I do not have a joystick. The result is that after the initial screens my cursor is going haywire and I can't get past the menu which looks like a pilot selection screen.
I have no idea how to actually launch the game, in any version, and just use keyboard + mouse like I used to in the old days.
I also have no idea what the relationship of the CD version to the 1993 version is. Will I get the missions that were there in the 1998 version which is unavailable for linux?
So, the main question is: what is the recommended initial setup for linux, which would allow one to play the game without a joystick?
Thanks in advance!
