Now that my dreams have been answered here is my profile for the X52 pro flight stick for use with the special edition.

It works equally well with Tie Fighter so I'll cross post there

I couldn't get the twist axis working but I remapped button d on the throttle to be target and roll toggle.

Key features.

Trigger fires, second stage matches speed to target
Hat switch looks around
Second hat switch left and right cycles targets, up switch targeting mode and down targets nearest enemy.
C toggles shields fore and aft
A switches weapons
B toggles link fire modes
i (if you disable clutch mode in the driver) is s-foils
E is hyperspace

T1 Laser power setting
T2 Sheild power setting
T3 divert shield to laser
T4 divert laser to sheild

Throttle works quite nicely though only has the 4 positions.

I unfortunately have not been able to get my X52 to work with X-Wing correctly (I haven't tried Tie Fighter yet). The buttons I map do not end up corresponding correctly once I am inside the game. It works enough for me to play since I remember most of the keyboard shortcuts anyways, but I can't have many buttons I want directly on the joystick.
