Hello All,
I own Tie Figher 1995 Collectors edition on CD and I've played it in the last 5 or so years on a computer with a disc driver and was able to get smooth decent gamplay via dosbox. No frame drops or stutter.
My current computer does not have a disc drive so I bought it on GoG. However the gameplay is abymsal. Any time there is an explosion on screen or any more than a ship or two (especially large ships) the frames drop and it stutters/freezes temporarily. I've tried adjusting the settings in the dosbox configuration file but nothing seems to help. I went to the Nvidia Control panel and made sure it was rendering Opengl from my graphics card.
Any idea where I could start? I'm playing on a Windows 10 machine with a 1440p monitor with G-sync built in. I've tried to make sure all that fancy stuff is disabled when I play this game (in case it might be interfering). Video card is a 980Ti if that matters.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I'd love to enjoy this game the way I used to when replaying it. Anything I can help provide to diagnose this problem?
