Hi guys!

I've been waiting for this game since I first discovered GOG.com. Unfortunately, now that I have it... I can't adjust my shield/laser recharge settings. Right now, the adjustments are force-mapped to f9 and f10. But on my HP Netbook, those keys seem to be reserved for media controls (Specifically, skip backwards and play/pause).

Is there a way to map these actions to other keys? Thanks!

I am hoping someone can help you out. I thought, depending on the joystick you have, that you may be able to configure a button or two to do it, this way, you can use your joystick in place of F9 F10 (in game options, not joystick software). If that does not work, you may want to ask GOG support and see if they can help you out.

As noted in the past, there should be an option in your BIOS settings that revert the media controls of you notebook to Fn+<key> instead of <key> (why whould they think it was a good idea to default that is beyond me...)
Something like this should help

If that is not an option, then you should resort to a different alternative: use the DOSBOX integrated keyboard mapper if you are running XWing '93 version, or some sort of external tools like AutoHotKey if you are running the '98 version

This is great information! Learned something! Thank you!
Hey guys;

Thanks for the advice. I've temporarily mapped F9 and F10 to the "coolie hat" on my joystick. it works, but it's kind of a hemorrhoid. When I get a chance I'll go in and twiddle with the BIOS.

I appreciate the responses, thanks!
