But if GOG were to put a disclaimer that read "No, this doesn't come with the version long time fans of the series actually want!" They'd miss out on all of those non-refundable sales. From what I've read, the disk versions have unresolved issues that were fixed on the CD versions, and the Windows versions REQUIRE a controller, require user-end tweaks, to get them to look right on widescreen displays, and are all around janky. This is a low point for GOG.com.

I won't buy either of these releases. My CD Images of the DOS CD-Rom editions will do just fine, until GOG comes to their senses.

I'm really surprised they haven't fixed this yet or released some sort of official statement on the matter. I hope it means they are trying to get the 1994 version included in the package.

Granted, when you really look at the description it isn't false since 1998 version too is called Collector's CD-ROM in the title screen and store description doesn't say there's 1994 version of the main game, it only mentions the expansions which came out in 1994 but it is still really deceptive and dirty.

I hope GOG isn't going greedy and/or uncaring as a company. I wasn't too worried at first but it has been over two weeks and they certainly know of it by now and have had plenty of time to change one number in the store page, a truly customer friendly company would clarify the description even if it wasn't technically wrong.

I just really hope GOG doesn't disappoint...

both addons where released in 1993, just like the main game, so the store description is still totally wrong.
Has anybody contacted Support about this?

I sent them a ticket on release date and have seen couple others say they also sent tickets. They also have certainly noticed it on the forum and in reviews by now. Never received any response to my ticket other than the automated message.
Their silence on the matter speaks volumes, namely "We're not as reputable as we used to be."
Has anyone actually considered that they may need Disney's permission to make any changes to the Lucasfilm listings? (Yes, even for a typo!) After all, we all know how litigious that company can be - just look at their EULA's!
uhm, guys, they didn't say they include Collectors versions, they just said they include Tour of Duty expansions: Imperial Pursuit and B-Wing in both - 1993 (DOS) and 1998 (Windows) versions

uhm, dude, they change the store description, few hours ago it said 1994 (thats the year the collectors edition was released) and 1998 versions.

when Ixamyakxim quoted the description it still said 1994. so he was WRONG at that time, but now his interpretation is correct im afraid. though his "addons of the 'collectors series' included in blabla" is still crap, the addons where available/released in EVERY version of the game anyway.

so no collectors series for DOS on gog, now its official i guess.

I think they've now updated the listing. Previously, it did say that the "Collector's Edition" was included. I don't remember the exact language, but I'm sure you can find someone quoting it here on the forums.

I'm not surprised that it took a while. I suspect that it takes a surprising amount of work to do something as simple as changing the product description. Any changes probably had to go through Disney/LucasFilm's marketing people and/or lawyers.
On this day of new releases from LucasArt, I wanted to bump this thread, as we still have no official answer on the matter. Both for X-Wing and Tie Fighter.

The description was changed, at least.

I asked for a refund, but never got it. I don't think I got an answer after my reply quoting the gamecard.

It would be nice to have their official position, even if it is gtfo.

They have a 30 day refund guarantee so you should be able to get a refund no questions asked.
