Thanks to the release of the prequels, there are 6 movies worth of Star Wars music. My question is whether or not you can add them to the game. I had attempted to do so earlier with a mp3 to ogg converter but nothing happened in game. I also removed track02-08 to see if it would play with them gone, still nothing. Is there any way to add new music or is it a lost cause?

To which game are you trying to add music? I I only have X-Wing and Tie Fighter, but I've managed to add custom music to both of them. For Tie Fighter I just used the Reconstructed Mod, but for X-Wing I put together some tracks from the Rogue Squadron games on my own and had no problem importing them.

For X-Wing (Windows version), the in-flight CD audio is by default in C:\GOG Games\STAR WARS - X-Wing (1998)\MUSIC, with Track02.ogg to Track08.ogg. You said that you used a converter to make OGG files, but did you rename them to "Track02.ogg" and "Track03.ogg," and so on? If you want to replace the songs, you have to make sure they're the exact same name, otherwise the game won't read them.

X-Wing also has other music for menus, transitions, and cutscenes, which are by default in C:\GOG Games\STAR WARS - X-Wing (1998)\XWINGCD. If you're replacing those, they have to be WAV files and also need to have the same names of the tracks they're replacing.

For Tie Fighter (Windows version), everything is in one folder, C:\GOG Games\Star Wars - TIE Fighter (1998)\MUSIC. Same thing applies there, convert in-flight music to OGG, cutscenes and transitions to WAV files, rename them exactly as the originals, and put them in the folder.

Ah ok, thank you. Im guessing that since its only track02-track08 that theres a 7 song limit. Oh well, thats a shame, theres so many wonderful songs in starwars.
There is a limit to the number of separate tracks, but I don't think there's a limit to how long one of those tracks can be. For instance, I spliced together a bunch of songs from the Rogue Squadron games into a 23 minute-long file (preview of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlYWjPxEPKw), then converted it for use in-game. If you were looking to replace the in-flight music with as many songs as possible, just use a program like Audacity to put them all together into one big file and rename that as "Track02.ogg"

I know that Track02.ogg is the in-flight music and that Track03.ogg is the "Mission Complete" song. The others I don't know, as I'm playing through this game for the first time.
All right cool. One last question. So your method definitely works from x-wing to x-wing vs tie fighter, but what about alliance? When i looked into the music folder the files were all imc. I have looked and could not find a converter for imc files
I don't own X-Wing Alliance at the moment and am not familiar with the imc format. From what I've read, XWA uses an iMuse-like system like the DOS versions of X-Wing and Tie Fighter, so the game will string together different segments of music according to events occurring in-game. That's probably why XWA has these imc files and not straight-up music files like OGG or WAV.

Unfortunately I don't know of a solution for importing custom music into XWA; you might have better luck searching on dedicated forums like xwaupgrade.com or maybe digging up old threads from LucasArts forums and so on. Because of the adaptive music system, you might not be able to change the music, or do it easily at least.
