Hi guys!
I played, for the first time in this century, this awsome game.
I have an USB gamepad with dual thumbsticks (like a ps gamepad).
Thing is, I can´t get this game to fully use my analog thursters, I mean, every time a turn the ship, it moves at the same speed, which is kind of difficult to attack any other craft (pushing the thumbstick up is like pressing the up button) .
Is there any way to configure the game in order to use my analog correctly?

I'm not exactly sure what your problem is but maybe it is caused by poor calibration.
The thing is that most gamepads have circular axis limits while the game's calibration process uses square axis limits which is common for joysticks (dualshock controllers didn't exist back then).

The way I calibrated my gamepad was by windowing the game (Alt-Enter), open the Windows gamecontroller panel and open the calibration panel, now you have a visual reference to where the corners are and it becomes a lot more clear on how to calibrate the gamepad properly. Press Alt-Enter to maximize Dosbox again when you are finished.

Well that isn't really needed, but the calibration screen provides visual feedback for where the corners are, calibration is only needed for the DOS version of TIE Fighter or are you playing the 1998 Windows version of TIE Fighter?

I´m playing the 1998 version (the one with better graphics).

Basically, what I´m trying to say is, while playing the game, it doesn't matter if I'm using the analog joystick or the movement buttons, since the ship will always turn at the same speed (rate) and it makes difficult to hit other ships because I´m always zigzagging...

Are you sure the thumbsticks are truly analog? Some game pads refer to the thumbsticks as "analog" but in fact they're digital (either on or off, like a button, with no middle ground). Also, some controllers require you to use their configuration utility to switch the sticks between analog and digital mode.

Yesterday, I could not try to confirm the controller settings.

@Ryan333: what you said is exactly what happens. Using analog thumbstick, I get only an on or off, just like a button. I never tried that gamepad with another game like that since I only use it to play mame.
