Is this just the way the game is? It seems to act like my mouse is an analogue stick, making it impossible to aim as the reticule jumps around if I twitch my mouse just a bit too quick.
Same for me.

If you have a joystick, you're better off with that, or even just using the arrow keys.
The mouse is actually lagging behind the game display. I thought it felt sluggish whilst over-sensitive at the same time. Then once I'd dropped the sensitivity down I noticed that it was actually behind the input, so I'd move the mouse left and it would take a moment to move the reticule left.

Playing with keyboard only works fine, though, although a little jarring as it isn't very smooth being a digital input instead of an analog input.

I'm going to give my wired 360 controller a try tomorrow evening, see how that gets on.
hello

I have the same issue

I resorted to playing with keyboard and 360 controller (mostly 360 controller).
I reeeeeally want to play with a mouse to aim (because I haven't used a console controller for a long time so I'm really bad at it). Does anyone know how to fix it?
Try disabling "Auto Roll" and "Auto Level" in general settings.

I had those off and it didn't help :(. The mouse just makes the reticle 'stick' to where you last moved the mouse, instead of auto-centering like I want it to
Same here, I have a joystick but was hoping to get a resolution instead when I don't feel like pulling it out. Even on the fall minimum sensitivity setting it does nothing to improve it at all or the other choices. I just picked it up a moment ago, got Shadows when it showed up yesterday. I loved these mostly on N64 (not so much RS as it lacked any in game hint what to do or why you failed while this one has that.) Shadows has the same mouse problem but not quite as extreme as I was able to bother with Hoth and the asteroid field decently enough to pull off those challenge points.
