Just wanted to let everyone know that I was able to fix my crash issue when loading a level by making sure 3D audio was set to off in the audio options. Not sure at all why it was set to on. But that's what did it for me! Hope this helps some fellow commandos out there!

One question though. The game likes to load in a window with nothing but 4:9 aspect style resolutions. Is this normal? I know older games sometimes don't support modern monitors so it's okay if this is the case. I'd rather not play with a stretched screen! Let me know!

Out of the box the game only supports 4:3 resolutions. However, it is simple enough to make the game widescreen friendly.

These instructions should help you get the game up and running in widescreen, without much trouble. Field of View adjustments are a bit trickier, but not impossible.

Hope this helps!
