I've been running the mini-missions at the front of the manual, to learn the game. I've a couple of question about when C3PO informs me I can't run a mission.

1. I had Mon Mothma successfully run a Recruitment mission on the Secret Rebel base. However, when I tried to have her re-run the mission to get another recruit, C3PO says that the mission could not be carried out with the assigned characters. I tried assigning her to a Recruitment mission on another Rebel planet, and the mission began.
Question: Why couldn't she have run another recruitment mission on the Rebel Base? Page 107 of the manual said I could recruit multiple characters on a single system.

2. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts to Recruit on the second Rebel planet, I found that Mon Mothma was a prisoner on an Imperial planet! I've no idea how that happened. I got no Message that she was captured, only that her Recruitment mission failed. I supposed it's possible I could have somehow picked the Imperial planet for recruitment without meaning to. I only found she was captured by clicking the Character status.
Question: Could she have been Abducted by an Imperial mission, even thought I received no Message telling me of an Abduction?

3. I figure the Rebels are now doomed, but I want to attempt a Rescue mission before I abandon the game. The Rescue description on page 108 says the Combat attribute is used. However, when I try to assign Han Solo to a Rescue mission on the Imperial Planet where Mon Mothma is held, the only mission available is "Incite Uprising". I also can add any Infiltrator Units to the Mission, or C3PO starts whining again that no mission is possible.
Question: What are the prerequisites for a Rescue Mission?

Thanks for any info.

1. It should indeed be possible. Make sure that you are clicking on the planet itself as target and not a building or something, and that you only have mon mothma selected. Even then sometimes you just gotta try a few times before it works.

2. Not sure about this

3. Make sure you actually click on her icon as the target and not just the planet. The game is very specific on this. For example with a sabotage mission you need to open the planet's details so you can physically click the building or unit to sabotage. You can't just click the planet. Apparently when you are in mode to select target for a mission (ie the mouse is a crosshairs) by holding shift you can get the normal cursor so you can open the pane you need, then release shift to get the crosshairs again. Just read this today though so haven't tried it out myself yet.

Hope this is of some help.
Tomcat:

Thanks much for the reply it was very helpful.

1. I happened to have an old save where Mon Mothma was on the Rebel HQ, and reloaded it. As you suggested, I had to click on the planet, which for the Rebel HQ is partially obscured by the HQ icon. I had to click the small area of the Rebel HQ's planet that was not obscured by the icon.

2. I think I must have somehow sent Mon Mothma on a recruiting mission to the Imperial-controlled planet, and that's how she was captured. It's an interesting game, but the not the best interface.

3. Thanks for the reminder upon kicking the captured character's icon, not the planet. That was what I was doing wrong.
