who wants to play?
I would. But dont know how.

And more important: In Which timezone are you living? Iam from Berlin Germany so it would be difficult if you life on the other side of Earth. ;)
Friend and myself just tried this, but we can't seem to see each others games. Has anyone successfully played this multiplayer yet? if so, what technique did you use?
It is listed as a game supported by gameranger. Might want to head over there and try that out. Let me know if it works ^^

Yes, it did work. Though my friend is having a few conflicts with it, we think perhaps because he is running windows 8. We did get it working however and put a few hours into a match.
I am having some trouble with GameRanger. When I host and I launch the game, my friend's doesn't launch, but it displays the message saying it has, "click abort if you want to close" etc. We both get it. If he starts with Rebellion open, it just closes and you can't open it. Anyone had this problem? We are both running WIndows 8 64 bit.

GameRanger has generally worked fine in the past for me, except when my ISP and possibly my wireless router were causing issues with connecting to the game. I've always used Windows 7 for multiplayer though, so I'm not sure if it's just Windows 8 causing issues.

It's possible there are certain kinds of connections that have issues with how GameRanger hosts the games on there, not sure if there's some emulation that goes on with how GameRanger hosts stuff that's difficult to work around.
Just forward ports 6073, 2302-2400, and 47624. I did TCP and UDP just to make sure. After you will just need to enter the IP address in the TCP/IP option. Easy peasy, no GameRanger needed.

I just wanted to confirm that this worked. Thanks, adamyedlin.

When you say enter the IP address, are you saying your opponent's IP?

Add Praetor Pyro on Game Ranger. I'm a very active player.
Make sure the following ports are forwarded on your router:
TCP 47624
TCP and UDP 2300-2400
UDP 6073

This is from the official Microsoft website for DirectX. I forwarded both TCP and UDP, just in case.

For instructions on how to port forward your router, go to http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/. When clicking on your router brand, be sure to click on close in the upper right hand corner. You DO NOT have to buy their software to use their port forwarding guides.

If you're still unable to host after port forwarding, you can try the following:
1) Enable UPnP on your router. Now try to host via DirectIP, if it still doesn't work, go to step 2.
2) Add a firewall exception to Windows Firewall for Rebexe.exe, EVEN if you don't use Windows Firewall and even if it's disabled.
3) Add a firewall exceptiion for Rebexe.exe to any other firewalls you may have running, whether it's Norton, McAfee, whatever.
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the DirectPlay Helper, typically found at C:\Windows\System32\dpnsvr.exe.

I recommend that both the host and the client do these steps in order to make it work. I can assure you 100% that if you do this correctly, it will work. I've been playing for a long time now, and doing these steps on my Windows 10 system seems to have done the trick. Good luck!
