Trying to do the sand people quest without just wiping them all out as Czerka corporation wants me to do.

For some reason my characters put on the sand poeple clothes... they walk right past the guards at the entrance to the sand people compound, and they walk in without being attacked. As soon as they get inside, the sand people inside the compound turn hostile.

I have in my party... Bastila, myself, and HK-47 the new translator droid that was said to be helpful for talking to the sand people.

I have read that taking the sand people clothes back to Anchorhead will cause a bug where they won't work. However, they seem to work fine at keeping the sand people from being hostile toward me right up until I enter the compound, at which point they attack.

Doesn't really make sense that I have the bug associated with returning to Anchorhead (or whatever the Tatooine town's name is) because I can walk right past al lthe sand people guards while I'm on my way into the sand people compound... so I don't know what's going on or what the solution is.
I had heard that taking the sand people robes in your inventory back to Anchorhead may cause a bug where the disguise from those robes doesn't work anymore. So I figured I'd take the robes that didn't seem to be working back to Anchorhead, sell them, then come back out and get new robes to go and (hopefully) talk to the sand people chieftan.

What I'm finding, is unfortunatley I seem to have 9 sand people robes that show up as an option when I go to put on clothes, but they don't show up on the sell list of items I can sell to merchants in the city, despite the fact they are (apparently) in my inventory.

Also, strangely, some of the robes don't seem to be equippable, but don't list any requirements for wearing them that my character doesn't meet.

Now I'm not sure what to do, because I want to get them out of my inventory somehow so I can get new un-bugged robes to try the sand people quest again, but they don't show up on the list of sellable items at stores, because I'm worried that they'll get all mixed up in my inventory and cause me to accidentally equip the bugged robes intsead of the new (hopefully un-bugged) robes. Strangely though, 2 of the robes did show up as sellable, but the others did not. Weird!

BioWare should have had this bug fixed by now. The game is like 15 + years old. I'm seeing other people complaining about it on forums in posts from 10 years ago, meaning it was also still present 5 years after the game's release.


EDIT: In case ayone else has this bug... I'll just add that apparently entering the sand people compound and then leaving it (i.e. going back to the previous area through the area transition quickly) before you get attacked seems to have fixed the bug. After I go back to the previous area, I tried re-entering the compound and found that the sand people are no longer hostile. I was then able to proceed with the mission and completed it.
