Is there a way to add EAX back into the ASPYR version? It really adds a lot to the game

I tried manually setting it in swkotor2.ini to no avail. In that instance, I used dsound.dll & dsound.ini provided by ALchemy.

I haven't tried eaxefx or DSOAL, but those wouldn't yield different results, as EAX has been removed from the Aspyr version.

You can install the original version of KOTOR II (which supports EAX) via GOG Galaxy (see attached screenshot):
1) Install KOTOR II via GOG Galaxy.
2) On KOTOR II's library page, select the customize button (to the right of the Play button). In the drop-down list, select "Manage installation" > "Configure..."
3) Uncheck "Automatically update to newest version".
4) Select "Version 1.0b", which is the most recent build of the original version of KOTOR II. "Version 1.0b update" is the Aspyr version. "Version 1.0b." and "Version" are earlier builds of the original version of KOTOR II.
5) Click the OK button. Your game will update.
6) Once the game has been reverted from the Aspyr version to the original version, there will be an Update button located between the Play button and the customize button. Do not click this, as it will update the game from the original version to the Aspyr version.

GoG should not force us to use this new update. I prefer the original. for one thing, this varient wonks up the menu and scrolls involuntarily up/down if you don't have a game pad hooked up.(no game pad, calibration) So I can't even get into the game to play it! And no EAX and graphics are forced to widescreen with no aspect ability. I personally don't mind the black boarders at the side of the screen what I do mind is the stretched blurry graphics lack of keyboard control and the ugly "button labels" around all the commands. If they must convert to X-box B.S. at least have the option for the rest of us to still download the PC version as it was sold in stores! I don't come here to buy x-box games! They should not force this crap on a game I bought that was originally of the PC!

cybercorps: Just asking, is the patch "aspyr" compatible with TSL Restored Content Mod 1.8.6?
avatar
Cantiras: Yes, TSLRCM is compatible with the Aspyr update to the game. If you already had KOTOR II installed prior to the Aspyr update, it is probably advisable to first update your game before installing TSLRCM.

Also, the fog is messed up in the Aspyr version; you might want to apply the ShaderOverride fix. You can find additional instructions at https://deadlystream.com/topic/5345-fog-and-speed-blur-fix-for-the-2016-tsl-patch [when Kexikus references the GOG version in the first post in that thread, he is referencing the previous (i.e. pre-Aspyr update) version of KOTOR II that used to be available on GOG]. The fog issue is noticeable some places in the vanilla Aspyr version, and is glaringly apparent if you install the M4-78 Enhancement Project mod.

As alluded to by RevanFan, you might also want to change "DisableVertexBufferObjects=1" to "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1" (without quotation marks) in the [Graphics Options] section of the swkotor2.ini file if you are bothered by the issue with lightsaber hilt textures in the Aspyr version (I've attached a clearer image of the issue to this post). However, changing this setting has caused crashes at certain points in the game for some people, so it might not be worth it to you. If you decide to change the setting to "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1", and your game later crashes, try reverting it back to "DisableVertexBufferObjects=1" to see if that resolves the issue. Once you are past a point where the game was crashing, you can once again change the setting to "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1". You may encounter multiple points in the game where it crashes if the setting is changed to "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1", so you may have to repeat this process a few times.

If you set the refresh rate (via Options > Graphics > Screen Resolution in the game menu, or by manually editing the RefreshRate setting in swkotor2.ini) to a high hertz value such as 144 Hz, you may encounter an issue in the Aspyr version whereby your character won't be movable after combat. PCGamingWiki recommends a maximum of 60 or 72 Hz, but I use a setting of 85 Hz with no issue (and in the previous non-Aspyr version, 85 Hz was the maximum I could select). I have VSync enabled.

You can also use the 4GB Patch tool on swkotor2.exe.

The only mods I routinely have installed are:
1) TSL Restored Content Mod
2) Unofficial TSLRCM Tweak Pack (I don't install the whole Tweak Pack mod; I only replace Kaevee with Jorran using the the individual component installer included with the mod)
3) Extended Enclave (TSLRCM add-on)
4) TSLRCM Icon Fix
just upvoted your comment!
Yes I also contacted GOG about this. hopefully if enough people do they can give us a separate copy both in and out of Galaxy as a download.

I hope that includes a separated downloadable installer. It is possible to "downgrade" this but then the graphics get blotched up and odd video effects. it needs the ability to clean install.

You don't need this mod. Just go the the override folder and delete the file kotor2logo.tga

I also recommend installing the KOTOR 2 Community Patch after installing TSLRCM, since it provides further bugfixes.

Actually, that's a misidentification of a mod on my part. TSL Main Menu Model Fix for Widescreen 1.2 is the mod I intended. It adjusts the logo and title fog at widescreen resolutions.

Nice. Since you previously mentioned the Widescreen UI Fix, I also recommend the Improved Widescreen Experience, for a proper widescreen interface.
