I have both KotOR 1 & 2 on Steam already, but since these are on sale here at GOG, I was thinking of getting them again. Always prefer to play GOG versions. However why are these Windows only when Steam versions run on MacOS?

I suspect that is down to the company doing the Mac Ports (Aspyr). They seem to against the basic idea of dropping DRM.

Kotor II for instance was only ported to Mac in recent years and it was done with heavy Steam Integration, and is only available on Steam.

For KOTOR 1 I haven't found much info. But It was originally ported in 2004, which means that Port was done for PPC and would no longer work today, that means it was ported again at some later date to support x86 on the Mac. I suspect the update was by Aspyr and again their Pro DRM stance is likely the cause, This one is available on Steam and Mac App store (likely using some DRM mechanism).

Aspyr has nothing to do with the Original games on Windows, and thus has no control over where they go.
Thanks for the info! That explains it then.

So question is, am I better off with the steam MacOS port or play the windows version under Wine?
