i played it a while ago and could get a full screen image now its set to 1280/1024 and lots of black bars

No, it never supported a widescreen resolution originally. You can use UniWS (works great for me) or flawless widescreen (I hear it causes lots of issues).

What is your screen resolution? It doesn't do native widescreen.

But you should only have black bars on the sides. If you have them set top and bottom as well, that is a GPU scaling issue.

my monitor resolution is set to 1920 by1080 but the game cat get that high
