Is it just me or is there a problem with KotoR 1? Mine is kinda tying up my download system by trying to "update" the program. It is not connecting to anything, it is just trying to connect. I have the game. It works. But it doesn't know that.
I... I have no idea what you're talking about.

Are you trying to update the game through its internal updater? Cause that is unnecessary, the game is fully patched already.
I am not trying to download anything. As of now, the game is not interfering with other downloads, but the screen that comes up when I click on the SW: KotOR marker says "server problem." It tries from time to time to correct the server problem, whether I ask it to or not (mostly, I am not asking). If it tries, it jumps to the head of the queue, which means it will interfere with a gog download or decelerate a steam download (from 100 k/sec to 18 k/sec, more or less). It has been quiet for the past several days, so it has not interfered with downloads. Maybe it has gotten over the problem it thinks it sees... Or... It is waiting... Silently... For me to make a mistake.....

When you say:

, are you trying to launch KOTOR? Or what are you talking about? KOTOR is not an online game and requires no connection to play.

Or are you talking about the download/install process? If so, are you using Galaxy?
Nope. I am not running it (though I have played the game over the past few days, and it runs fine). But the game is trying to get a server connection running. It believes there isn't one. To give you an idea. About an hour ago, I finished downloading Witcher 1. I have been playing it. I got all the way through the intro and the first dog fight. I saved it. I turned it off (I am about to go to bed). I decided to start download on one of the other programs I got, clicked all the right buttons, and it seemed hesitant. So I checked. And guess what my computer was trying to fix. The program is here, it is running, but it thinks it has a server problem. And, when it gets the chance, it takes over my computer trying to find a way to connect to the server.
I have a question regarding this: what version of KotOR do you have -- Retail? Steam? GOG? Other?
re: "Nope. I am not running it (though I have played the game over the past few days, and it runs fine). But the game is trying to get a server connection running."

Your descriptions are too vague to make sense of, or you are contradicting yourself for some reason. A program that is not running ("I am not running it) cannot "try to get a server connection running". I am done with this mess. Good luck.
It indeed doesn't make any sense.

KotOR has only one online functionality at all, the update process. The game is patched with the latest patch already, so there is no need to update it.
Everything else cannot originate from the game, it has to be something else.
Screenshots, otherwise there's no way of understanding what you're trying to say.
I guess it figured all this out. It no longer says that I have a "server problem", it actually uses the word "installed." So I guess what ever problem I had has vanished. Thank God.
This is a trippy thread. Suggest to lay off the hard stuff for a while.

So, you're talking about Galaxy, not KotOR.
I guess I am talking about both. Because KotOR is one of only 2 programs which are giving me problems from GoG. It keeps trying to open up some sort of connection that, I guess, it can't open (it has tried a few more times since I said it had stopped). The game works.... I am guessing that I have no connection to GoG with the game. I don't get it. I am new here. I have had so few problems with other games... (Ok, NWN II thinks that I am trying to download a game that does not fit my system, but..)

Adendum: NWN II is now downloading... but not the normal way. I am downloading the "backup" version because the standard set-up failed... again. For the hell of it, I tried downloading the game with backup and it worked... who knew?

Okay, enough is enough.

So... you have Galaxy installed. And you're trying do download Knights of the Old Republic and other games through it, right?
Then the problem lies with Galaxy, not the game. Galaxy has problems establishing a connection to the GOG servers regarding those games.

Note that Galaxy is still in Beta, it is bound to have bugs and issues. I suggest downloading and installing the games that produce error messages outside of Galaxy, they will work fine then.
I figured that much. Oddly enough, it is only SWKotOR that is giving me that problem. All other downloads are up and running fine. I even have SWJKJA up with no problems.
