Hi, this is a very minor issue, but no matter whether changing the setting in the options menu or in the Kotor ini file, I can't turn off the subtitles. I generally like to only have the subtitles when alien languages are used so I set it off when playing normally, however for some reason I just can't seem to and have no idea why. Any help is appreciated.

First of all, there are many, many aliens in this game speaking in a language you cannot understand, so you have to read the subtitles (that is great, by the way, it boosts the atmosphere a lot).
So, that could be a reason why you can't turn of the subtitles.

Anyway, the way dialogue is presented in this game, having no subtitles really doesn't achieve anything. There are black bars on the top and bottom of the screen anyway, and everything surrounds around that layout.

So, as far as I know there is no way to deactivate the subtitles. You'll have to deal with it, but don't worry, they really do enhance the game in many ways. :)
What do you mean you need subtitles for the aliens!?

You don't speak Twi'lek!?

Bunch of morons all of you!
This was never an issue in the original xbox version. I turn off the subtitles because I don't feel I need to read what I'm already hearing. I'm wondering why there is an option in the menu to turn them off if it doesn't bloody do that (there really is an option, go check), it's like having subtitles in a film, they only appear whenever you wouldn't normally be able to understand what's being spoken.

It's not an issue with the PC version, either:

Options >> Feedback >> Subtitles.
Maybe I'm not being clear, I've turned them off from that exact menu, and yet they still appear on the screen. This is for every piece of dialogue. That shouldn't be happening, it is not human error.

Out of curiosity, what version of Windows are you on, and what path do you have the game installed to?
Yeah I thought it might get to this. I'm on Windows 8.1 with a fresh install ( previous install caused problems ) and I've installed it straight to the C drive, so it's outside program files and program files (x86), in GOG games, as I know there are issues if it's in those folders.

Ok, in your swkotor.ini do you have a Subtitles=0 entry, under [Game Options]?
Yeah, this is the first thing that I did whenever it didn't work in-game, just checked it again there now. Figured that would sort it out but still appears not to.

I don't know, then. You should note that the game states that all player replies, non-voiced text and movie/cut scene dialog will ALWAYS be displayed, regardless of settings.
Yes I know, I just don't understand the problem, thanks regardless.
