Just had mine too.
Have you tried any compatibility options?
The game crashed quite a few times for me, playing at the maximum resolution.

Every time I was moving a large amount of units, the game would always crash in the same places, so I tried shifting down to 1024x768 -- for some reason the game was much more stable, with far fewer problems.

Don't know why that should be, since it hardly places a strain on the PC.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it. :-)

Same here. I play for a while, and then a momentary stall, and then the game just crashes. Windows (running 10) tries to troubleshoot it, recommends XP SP3 compatibility settings, and I apply them (as an admin), but the crashes keep coming.

What's up???

There is a patch missing from the game and the fix is here on the forum. Ill try and find the relevant post and point you to it.
This fix worked for me:

"I updated my patch to work with GOG version and resolutions smaller than 1024 high

Download - dropbox.com/s/zzyfux616l5pwv9/SWGBWide.zip?dl=0

Instructions:
1. Copy with replacement all files from GOG to {PathToGame}\Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds\Game\ folder.
2. Double-click on SWGBWide_x1.exe -> patch will apply.
3. Run game from wide_battlegrounds_x1.exe and select 1280x1024 resolution in Options.
* If you can only select the top two display settings, not 1280x1024, run the game only from wide_battlegrounds_x1.bat. It launches wide_battlegronds_x1.exe with parameter 1280. This method forces resolution 1280x1024 for all users"

I've tried all of the above and all I keep getting is installs for DirectPlay. I can't seem to get past that.

EDIT: I should note that attempting to install or skip both results in the game being unable to play. I have also tried to enable DirectPlay via my control panel but get the same error, 0x80073701.
