Apologies if this has already been asked, did a quick search and didn't see anyone asking this question.

Downloaded the game from GOG, downloaded and applied the 2GB memory patch. The game autosaves just fine but when I try to save manually it generates that error and creates a save1 file of 0kb. I delete that and get the same result. Tried running as Admin and that didn't help. Changing capability to XP or one of the 95/98 versions makes the application break. It launches fine but when I click on anything in the game it acts like I'm clicking on my desktop and the whole application minimizes. Windows 7 and 8 compatibility work they just give the same disk space error.

The only thing I found as a solution was run Steam as admin. Even on forums where they specifically mention they aren't using the Steam version, they say run Steam as admin and mark the question as answered. I hadn't tried the 1.05 patch because it said it was integrated into Gold Pack.

I've only tried saving during the ground assault because the first mission when I started up playing as the Rebels was a ground mission. My username doesn't have any non-english characters or letters with accents so it isn't that issue. I was just using the planet name as the save name with no special characters. I wanted to see if there was a solution to this before doing something like uninstalling it and putting in a partition that is sized more like a hard drive would have been when the game was released. Which would be a pain in the ass and I don't have high hopes for it actually working.

Running it on Windows 11, Intel I7, Laptop GTX4060, 16GB of RAM and 870GB of Free Space.
