I can get the expansion to load just fine but the first/base game crashes shortly after showing the splash screen. I tried updating the Compatibility Mode (also reinstalled the game) for launch but I still get the same crash. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!
I've exactly the same issue. The main program crash at the startup screen. the extension run fine and well
BTW, i'm under Win Seven 64 bits. could it be a clue? problems detween 32bits and 64bits?
i've tested every compatibility mode, reinstall directX 10, run it as administrator, upgraded my CG drivers ( Amd) , and still nope !
IF somebody from Gog could dig in, i'm sure we could appreciate it !
Ok. Try this one:

Download and install the "2GB RAM & MP Lobby update". This fixes an issue playing the game on a 64 bit OS
that has greater than 2GB of RAM.

Applies to both Empire at War and FoC.

Is there a mirror to get the 2GB RAM patch? It says the site is down for maintenance.

It`s up now at least. Try again.

I see that it is it back up again. But are there any mirrors for the EaW patches in case the site goes down again?
I'm also having this issue. I applied the 2 GB Ram and MP lobby update, but still the first game crashes on me. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, did the admin mode and compatibility mode and still nothing works.

Edit:

I found out my anti-virus was the reason why the first game doesn't start up. Vindeb if your anti-virus is causing the problem temporarily shut it down, and when you get done playing the game turn it back on again. That is what my issue was for me.

Awesome, that actually sounds like it might be the case. I'll try it out. Good find!
