The latest patch notes say

"- enabled DirectPlay on install (Windows 8 / 10) "

Sorry but google is being very vague about this. How does this work exactly?
Is that enabling multilayer in JK? The game had connection problems with the GOG version.

Can't test it myself as I use windows 7.

Any info would be appreciated.

As far as I understand it, DirectPlay is a networking interface for early DirectX games, like pre 9.0. Basically, having DirectPlay enabled on older games that utilized it allows the game to continue to run on newer operating systems like windows 8 and 10. I don't think you will notice any difference with regard to your connection issues.
DirectPlay is a legacy component that is disabled by default on Windows 8/10. However several old games refuse to even launch without it. That is the reason for this update.
Ah that explains it! Thanks!
