When I get killed my character isn't respawning at the last area, even though I have multiple lives left. Anyone else having this issue? Am I missing something? I never had this problem in the original.
I don't understand. Where are you respawning? (Just a word of caution: I haven't played the remaster yet, although I've played the original many times.)
anywhere. Last time it was acid pool on the ice planet, I figured it would relaunch minus one life at the last completed checkpoint of the level. I admit before this my last playthru used the Force Engine (which lets you save and relaunch from any save). But I've played the regular GOG version and the disc version and don't recall this issue. Or maybe the Remaster menu is lacking and just not showing me where to restart. Is there some F key I'm forgetting that brings you back?

Last completed checkpoint (provided you still have lives left, of course) is what is supposed to happen. (I think in the original you hit enter to spawn your next life.) This sounds like a bug. Anyone else having this problem? I don't recall anyone else on GOG complaining about this so far.
