Jeanswbf2: GameRanger is more active during peak European times. Earlier in the day, there was a server with 15 people.

Liberteer: Well, I'm in Europe and it seems Jedis and Siths are sleeping :)
You mean the hero assault servers?

Liberteer: Game is proving to be a good fun, but without ping measurements and stuff, it seems I'm always ending on high ping servers, so it's ruining it for me.

Jeanswbf2: That won't be an issue when dedicated server software is made compatible with the upcoming update.
I'm actually more concerned with server population than with ping.

I bought this game since I figured, considering its popularity, the multiplayer revival, and the attention revival it got because of EA's Battlefront II (which people are not playing), that it would have a decent online community. However, I'm somewhat dissapointed to find myself struggling to find games with more than 10 players.

EDIT: After exiting the game and reentering, few more servers popped out, two of them being 30+ players one with AWESOME ping.

Yes, it's pretty strange isn't it? Since the game boasts about being cross platform (which is great), checking out relevant Steam tracking websites seems suitable.

For example, right now (and it's almost noon in Europe), Steamdb.info reports 675 players in game. Steamcharts.com reports 587 players in the last hour. Somehow, I couldn't find proper multiplayer game with more than 5 players. I somehow doubt either of these sites are miscalculating or that there's 400 singleplayer sessions out there.

Either way, I find Battlefront 2 pretty fun, even when I'm alone on server :)

Unfortunately, most people buy games solely to play single player. Even if you look at console games such as Call of Duty, a very large percentage of the people who buy their games only play the single-player mode.
Sometimes the singleplayer is more fun than listening to the player complains, or enduring how they speak with each other without the smallest sign of respect. Battlefront isn't an exception from games where the players thought too much of themselves and can't accept losing.
