Art504: I finally got it installed, but it will not start up. I tried several compatibility modes. Running on Windows 7. Any ideas?
jpthorpe32: Hi I purchased from GOG Battlefront 2 a short while ago. Had some problems with game crashing in multiplayer LAN.
I did the following (which you may have already tried) - which fixed it in the end:
(1) go into control panel
(2) Hardware and sound
(3) Sound
(4) tab called Recording
(5) right click open space and select show disabled devices
(6) enable Stereo Mix
This was for Windows 7 and 8
All the best
Cheers

Another thing that can make a big difference along a similar line to this is under playback, properties for your default playback device. If you click along to the advanced tab the default sound format may make the game crash.
I'd suggest changing it to 16 bit 48000Hz (DVD quality). I had to make this change for an old game about a year ago because it instantly crashed on starting.
It was something to do with the poor way some games use the direct sound interface from what I vaguely remember.
