Hi everyone. I bought the game shortly after i was told the servers were back. But everytime i open the Multiplayer tab in the game "Error: Unknown error" shows in the middle of the screen.

Is there something you have to do to play online? Which Hosting Bandwidth should i use?

Thanks in advance!

The multiplayer gamespy servers shut down years ago but there are a few alternatives..... gameranger, tunngle, etc...even a standalone .exe replacement from swbfspy (this is awesome).

The OP is referring to the update that GOG.com pushed out reinstating multiplayer without having to use Gamespy or any third party alternatives.

To OP: I don't know the solution to your problem, but I do know that pretty much everyone has been having issues with getting multiplayer to work, and a huge part of it is much higher interest in the new online multiplayer than GOG anticipated. GOG has stated that they are working on fixing those issues, so I'd suggest waiting a couple days and trying again.
You have to make sure GoG Galaxy application is running.

I think this is inaccurate. Besides, what if I don't want GOG Galaxy? I used the classic installer for that very reason. Having this issue as well, but just started trying today, I'll try again in the next day.

Yup, that was it. Never used Gog before and didnt think of it x) Thx!
So.. do I have to re-download everything choosing the installer with GOG Galaxy embedded, or I can just grab Galaxy separate ways? This matter has been a confusing one. Why GOG devs cant just put "GOG GALAXY REQUIRED TO RUN THIS GAME" somewhere..?

Tell me about it... :P
Apparently, downloading separate ways went just as good.

Because Galaxy isn't required to play the game, it's only required to play the game with online multiplayer.

Now, they could definitely call that out.
You don't Multiplayer is broken.
