The Steam version that I purchased for my son to play disappoints me in a MAJOR way.

Currently, we're only able to play it in Windowed mode and that's with no sound...!

Changing one's sound settings to "Stereo" does NOT work. I've tried every workaround there is, to no good effect.

Are these issues remedied in GOG's version of the game...?

I bought it, played it, even installed some mods and i have no problems whatsoever. I'm currently running it on a laptop with Windows 8.1. The game works fine in fullscreen and does support my (1366x768) resolution. I haven't really tried steam version so can't comment on that.

Hi I purchased from GOG Battlefront 2 a short while ago. Had some problems with game crashing in multiplayer LAN.

I did the following (which you may have already tried) - which fixed it in the end:

(1) go into control panel
(2) Hardware and sound
(3) Sound
(4) tab called Recording
(5) right click open space and select show disabled devices
(6) enable Stereo Mix

This was for Windows 7 and 8
