These old Battlefront games are multiplayer only?

So im wondering if there is any point in buying this first game when i have the second one?

Does anyone play this first game anymore online?
Battlefront 2 (2005) has a singleplayer campaign.

I can't speak for the online component for the first one, but I played it years ago on Xbox and just playing against the bots was decent fun.

Depends on why you want to play the game.

The game supports multiplayer as of May, 2020 and it's cross-platform with Steam so there's plenty of reason to get it if you want to play it.

Multiplayer works now!
Well, officially not all maps were used from SWBF1 in BF2. (yes I know, you could download the BF1 maps for BF2).

But what you miss would be the other atmosphere, voice lines, UI, AI and even graphics. I bought BF2 in 2005 almost day one and in 2007 I bought BF1.

There are even some movie clips and mission instructions, simulating an campaign. But in the end you only play some adjusted version of instant action. Not more.

I liked BF1. Maps like Bespin, Rhen Var and Kashyyk were awesome. And you can even fly Tie-Fighters, X-Wings and so on in ground battles. With different controls than in BF2. In BF2 you have still the controls (and even flying stars, lol) from space battles.
