I played this game YEARS ago but I dont think I would enjoy playing with a keyboard but I only really play on PC now, Can an xbox cobtroller be used with this game if attached?

Yes, I'm using an Xbox Controller, but I haven't figured out a way to invert the controls for the way I like looking up and down.
