There don't seem to be any voices playing during the game. Music works fine, as do sound effects, but for some reason nobody is talking. The text shows up at the right times in tutorials, but... yeah.

edit: Just wanted to say I figured it out. For some reason sfc.ini was set to have voices at zero volume.

I was having the same issue. This game really doesn't like Windows 8.

I might be mistaken but I believe that there are no voices in this game other than the Intro-Outro videos and the race descriptions on the map. So the Yellow writing during the missions always had to be read.

That was always my experience.

Except for the tutorial missions, SFC1 doesn't have any voice-over.

It was jarring to me not hearing Sulu talk, since I did play SFC when it originally came out. But the fix here works.
