I'm not sure how many times I've had to restart mission 6 (the one where you're fighting the Venturi in the nebula), but it's getting ridiculous. It seems every time I accept their base's surrender and report back to the Starbase, I get a failing grade for firing on them.

Ok, so the first time this happened I knew why; I'd accidentally run into their station after accepting their surrender. But every time after that I've had absolutely no idea how I broke the treaty. I never fired on them, or ran into them. Do I have to destroy all their transponders BEFORE I accept their surrender? Would leaving the transponders alone give me a failing grade?

I've tried destroying their base without accepting its surrender, but this always takes too long and gets me killed, if it's even possible to do.

Is there something I'm overlooking here?
Hi I know you have probably sorted this problem now, but I thought I would reply to you in case anyone else does have the same problem and tries to look it up. Because I have had the same problem today and the exact same thing happened to me with me hitting the station the first time by accident after they had surrendered and then after that every time I got them to surrender. The game would say I had failed because I had destroyed a friendly ship. I even tried to destroy all the transponders one time before getting the station to surrender and that did not work.

But I've just completed the mission now and unfortunately you have to destroy the station and ignore your weapons officer when he keeps saying they may want to surrender now. The easiest way to do this is to destroy the venturi medium and venturi light ships out of firing range of the station and then get really close to the station so it is literally right in front of you and if you got much closer you will crash into it. Then keep firing on it and ignore your weapons officer. The station seems unable to fire back when you are that close to it. So as long as you got some photon torpedos left you should be able to destroy it pretty easy using that method.

Hope this helps anyone else who is suffering from this same frustrating problem, which I think must be a bug in the game . Because it seems odd that your weapons officer constantly tell you they may want to surrender after they get a certain amount of damage. But if you let them surrender you fail

iirc you don't have to do anything to the base in the nebula...focus on destroying the transponders and just warp out once you're done...ignore the base.
Are we completely sure it’s for firing on the station that triggers the failing?

I think the ship in one of the previous parts could be the cause of the issue. One of the ships automatically triggers the hailing sequence once it reaches a certain amount of damage - odds are you’ve fired a volley. If the first shot of your volley triggers it, you can get it to surrender and when the dialogue ends they can technically be hit by something you fired before the dialogue sequence.

This happened to me the first time I played this mission. I replayed it and was really careful when dealing with that ship. Just to be sure I was careful with the station as well. I destroyed the transponders and ships first and was able to get the base to surrender and passed the mission.
