The mission "Nothing Ventured" (the one where we first encounter the Venturi) isn't working for me. I can get through the objectives up to and including "Warp to the Walpole system". But once the conversation that leads to the battle is done I can't warp out of the system and I literally get my ship blown to smithereens in the first 10 - 20 seconds of the fight. I have tried every combination of power and damage control settings I can think but I literally cannot prevent the Venturi from destroying my phasers and photon torpedo tubes within in seconds and then seconds later blowing me up!!! Anyone got any ideas on how to get past this issue? I don't recall this being a problem the last time I played SFA from my retail copy (which I no longer have due to a house fire 2 years ago - which is why I was so happy to see this re-released on GOG). Any help is massively appreciated...

The same problem here and playing it at the lowest difficulty. Coulf it be that the game runs too fast?

I was never really good in space sims but this is just too hard.

Edit: Reading this forum I came across the question about "game speed" settings under controls. I set it to 2.00, much lower than it was and was able to complete the mission with the difficulty one would expect. This setting is not mentioned in the manual as far as I can tell.

Are you guys kidding? All us original 1997 Trekkers only ever play this game on 0.2 gamespeed! They're Capitol ships!
