You can still play online, there are only a few changes you need to make.
The offical Master Server is offline, the Community provides a replacement Master server.
Your Game out of the Box does not know that, it needs to be told the new Master Server address.
Option 1:
- Download and use the Multiplayer Server List Fix ModDB.com
Option 2:
- Download and use the HaZardModding Coop Mod Updater Tool from hazardmodding.com
Start the Updater then click on Tools->Manage Master Server and set the new SFU Master Server.
- You may want to make sure that your firewall does not block the executable now.

Modifying the Executable (Hard)
This is the recommended way to do it.
1. You nee to get a Hex-Editor and open the game executable with it.
https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/
2. Search for this text in the executable: ef2master.activision.com
3. Then type in the new Master Server Address: master.hazardmodding.com in the exact same place where you found ef2master.activision.com
4. Save the executable and start the game, you should now see Servers.
- Make sure you create a backup of the executable before editing it.
- You may want to make sure that your firewall does not block the executable now.
- Do not use backspace or overwrite any other part of the executable, as this may brake it.
Modifying the Hosts File
This is the least recommended way of doing it, because the IP of the Master Server might change without notice
2. Follow the instructions (also for MacOS) on this article at ModDB.com
If you want to host your own server and have it show up in the server list
follow the instructions of this article:

The Master Server List Fix Tool was updated 2021.09.18
I have updated this post after I realized that two of the Tools are not working correctly any more because the Master Server IP has changed. I corrected the IP on the manual Guide and will update one of the previously linked tools and add it back in once it is done.
