No official French localization is known for this game.
There is a inofficial Italian translation for practically all the Text.
There might is the same thing in French.

How ever as Plokite_Wolf pointed out there is not a offical French version, so there are no professional French voice overs for this game.

-- If you should feel the urge to create a translation read on --

There is a Mod that contains the files that you would need to look at if you would ever decide to make your own French Translation: https://www.moddb.com/mods/colony7-for-ef2/downloads/german-english-dual-compatibility-languagepack

PK3-Files can be opened with a Archiver like 7-Zip or any other Program that can open ZIP files, as they are basically renamed ZIP-Archives.

The relevant files that would need to be modified have the extension .loc, but are basically just renamed text files and can be opened with Notepad.

This is where the loc-files would be located in that Mod:
ef2_sprachpacket_languagepack_de_en_v2.zip\english\zlocpak3_text-en.pk3\loc\Eng\stringresource\

You can extract the loc-files to your game folder and edit them from there start the game and see the changes.
If you don't have these folders in your game install folder, create them, except for the /base/ folder as it should already exist.
/base/loc/Eng/stringresource/

Thank you very much for this informations, the German mod that allows to edit the texts seems promising. I will look at what I can do with it.

----------------------------

I am also interested in a French translation. I took a look at the files and it's actually quite easy to change but it's a lot of work. I'll see if I can make some progress (I started on the "globalstrings" file which is the biggest one, 67 pages and 10 000 words in total, in fact in the 4000 to translate).

I don't promise to get there quickly, but considering how easy it is to modify them it seems feasible, after obviously it will require a lot of testing and verification to avoid in-game overflows, bugs etc... For the moment I've done the first 4 pages, just to see the rhythm, it was easy and fast because it's essentially menus. But I haven't tested it yet for the simple reason that I haven't bought it yet (even bought it back, I had the game in boxed version and I certainly still have the cd not far away... but I don't have a player anymore ^_^). But it will come in the next few weeks ;).

Anyway I'll keep you informed by the end of december to report my progress (and if by any chance other french speaking people want to get involved don't hesitate to indicate which file you are translating so we are not on the same ones, I should have enough to do with globalstrings.loc :D).
Hi Duke,
that sounds good.

It is a text file, it is not suppose to have pages like a word document, so I am just wondering what you mean by Pages ?

If you have questions about the game files you can ask me any time.
