I'm trying to run the game at the max resolution it will allow in game which is 1600x1200 but for whatever reason when I choose this, it forces my desktop (which is 1920x1080) to a much higher resolution and the game becomes a small window. if I hit alt+enter to try and force it full screen, my desktop reverts to its original resolution and the game becomes a larger window. I'd like to play at full res considering it looks like the framrate goes up when you play it that high. Anyone else have any issues like this?

Try checking r_mode in the console, it's supposed to be -1 so any custom resolution will be applied. The ingame menu only lists a couple of standard resolutions, so in order to use a different resolution, type r_mode -1 [Enter], r_customwidth 1920 [Enter] r_customheight 1080 [Enter] vid_restart [Enter], it should apply Full HD resolution. Note that the menu gets stretched from 4:3 though. Don't forget to adjust the FOV from the woefully small 80 to a proper value, such as 106 which is often recommended for 16:9 resolutions. To do that, open the console once again and type seta userfov 106.

By running it in DX12 it easily handles HD+ resolutions...yes even 4k+
I try to follow these instructions but for some reason, I have no CFG folder named after my computer. I clicked on all of them available, which are random names but all of them are show key bindings. Nothing to change the resolution.
The game does start and could play it, but of course i like to play with more resolution.

How come I can't see the required CFG file?

Try sorting files by date they where modified.
If you have installed it on system drive the cfg may be in a different folder outside the game.
But i don't think this to be the case.
